Time traveling criminals often "rewrote" entire societies, replacing the brain data, electronic data, and even cultural artifacts of the society, for various purposes. One of the side effects of these kinds of rewrites was often, time travelers coding local defensive and offensive technologies and systems to view the native specieses of a planet as foreign invaders, and instead only recognize the time traveler's species (or even subspecies) as though it were native.
