Time traveling criminals almost always decided to proceed by stealth, and then later, when their dominance was assured, began to deliberately reveal themselves to robots and other advanced, especially brain-scanning technologies, or even soul characteristic-scanning technologies, in order to terrify those technological resources into serving them, lest they destroy the world, or even the entire universe.
