The Genocide Against The Celtic Aborigines In The Original Timeline

Upon settling and / or conquering Britain in the original timeline, the Greeks discovered small tribes of deliberately inbreeding, cannibalistic, heathen Celts, that would even deliberately eat their own children in celebratory rituals. In order to preserve some of the lives of these hyper-inbred essentially too-primitive-to-live tribesman, the Greeks killed all above a certain age, and chose to attempt to raise the surviving children in a more civilized fashion.

This choice to let some of them live came back to harm all life, as Thomas Aldous Rawling was motivated to attempt to cover the horrific peculiarities of his ancestral energetic signatures by causing nearly all life to engage in behaviors designed to duplicate the conditions of the Celtic aborigines, so that their own energy signatures would show those sorts of characteristics.
